DoD Contract Requirements: DoD requires that qualified IUID labels, asset tags, and marking is essential for:
- Equipment with an acquisition cost of over $5,000
- Equipment which is mission essential
- Controlled inventory
- Serially-controlled equipment
Specific requirements are outlined in Military Standard 130 (MIL-STD-130N) and further detailed in DFARs clause 252.211-7003.
Materials: IUID labels and nameplates are available in a wide variety of materials including AlumaMark, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, Metalphoto, TESA tape, and thermal print labels. Choose any Pantone® color for your label or nameplate text and background.
2D (Data Matrix) machine readable code: a black and white, two-dimensional barcode with cells (also known as modules) arranged in a square or rectangular pattern. The encoded data can be text or numeric. A 2D coded matrix symbol can store up to 2,335 alphanumeric characters.
